I'm going to start working on some simpler 2D animations in between all the bigger filmed\CG sketches in an effort to increase my output. And I've already started!
Here's a quick look at one of the characters for my first 2D film since 2010. I've still got to rig him and I'm going to be using a new technique called a 2.5D face rig which means he'll be able to turn his head a lot more smoothly. It's faking 3D in a 2D animation package.
I'm hoping to finish this before the end of April but I can already feel it getting more complicated. I've found someone to do the voices for me and the rough copy I've heard so far sounds brilliant. Which is even more pressure to spend longer than I planned on the animation.
So in theory, this is a simpler project that will definitely be finished in Two weeks...
YouTube? More like YouSuck!
I'm also hoping to find a friend who owns Flash and will add a pre-loader to the video for me so that I can upload it to NewGrounds. With Kong failing spectacularly to get many views on Youtube I need to start looking at other sites\communities that might be a bit more supportive.
I realised that I haven't had a video break 10K views on YouTube since 2009. Despite improving reviews and a general feeling that my work is getting better, nobody is watching, and Youtube clearly isn't interested in helping it's 'partners' unless they're already big names.
Looking at Youtube's featured comedy section today there is a video of a footballer running to the Benny Hill soundtrack. 6 videos of Babies laughing, and ANOTHER lazy variation on the 'Dimitri Finds out' internet meme from 2010.
Could they not just have 5 videos of Babies laughing and one original comedy sketch? That'd be a start.
